Choose the right camera
1. Choose the right camera
A lot of people expect that an big, expensive Digital SLR is the best choice for travel. In many cases, we reckon there are plenty of other (and cheaper) options.
One of the biggest considerations for a travel camera should be
size, however you’ll also want a decent amount of manual control.
Many compact cameras now provide manual control, and a compact multi-lens digital (such as the two bottom camera examples) are light, fashionable and capable of taking extremely high quality pics.
Of course, digital SLR cameras are very good, as long as they don’t get left in the hotel room too often!
Here are a few of our current favourites – clockwise from top left: Canon Powershot G-12, Nikon Coolpix P7000, Samsung EX1, Olympus Pen E-P2, Fujifilm Finepix X100, Panasonic Lumix DMC LX5.
