About the Travel Photography Field Guide

What skill level is the Field Guide suitable for?

The Travel Photography Field Guide will be of use to beginners and those of average photographic skill, plus those who just need a refresher.

Do I need a fancy camera, or is my point and shoot okay? What about other gear?

The Travel Photography Field Guide will be of use no matter what kind of camera you own. However we do recommend using a camera with at least some degree of manual control, which most cameras do have these days apart from the cheapest point-and-shoot models. This is because we frequently discuss non-automatic camera settings. As for gear, we always assume that travellers are carrying minimum photography equipment, and will not insist that you need a tripod (although you may need to improvise support at times), specialty lenses or other pro gear.

How do I purchase the Travel Photography Field Guide?

Add the Field Guide to your shopping cart (in the right sidebar of this page) and follow the prompts to complete the payment process through Pay Pal. Once the payment has been processed you will automatically be sent an email containing a download link to the Field Guide PDF file.

What if I don’t have a Pay Pal account?

That’s okay. Click the “pay using credit card” option if you don’t have a PayPal account.

How do I assemble the Travel Photography Field Guide?

Print the 16 page file on your home printer and follow the folding instructions on the back cover. Make sure that the file is centred – you may need to experiment with your own printer settings to ensure this happens. For example, try both ‘fit/shrink to printable area’ and ‘no page scaling’ to see which gives the best result.

Is there a printed version?

No. But even if you’re new to e-books, we think you’ll find the Field Guide very easy to print and fold.

What size paper do I need when printing?

A4 and American letter sizes will both work well.

I purchased and downloaded the product, but now I can’t find it. Help!

Check your download folder and if it isn’t there check your trash folder. Or, execute a search by entering the name of the file: Skip_Town_Field_Guide_V1.pdf

I purchased the product but I didn’t get the email.

Check your email trash folder. If it isn’t there, check if your inbox is full and needs emptying. If it still doesn’t arrive, email us at hello@skiptownonline.com and we’ll send you a replacement as soon as possible.

I purchased and downloaded the product, but I can’t open it.

You will require Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open the file. If you don’t have it, you can download Adobe Reader for free here.

If you get a message saying the file is corrupt, it may be due to your internet platform. Safari does not process PDF files very well, so if you can switch to another platform (such as Firefox) please do so and try to download again.

If you weren’t using Safari but the file is still corrupt or in any other way not working, please email us at hello@skiptownonline.com and we’ll email another copy to you as soon as possible.

I’m trying to download the PDF file again on a different computer but it won’t work. Why?

You may only download the PDF file on the computer you purchased it with. If you try to access the download email anywhere else, it won’t work. This is a security measure. However, you can store one copy of the PDF for your own personal use, so if you need to print from a different computer we suggest storing it on a USB drive or emailing it to yourself.

Can I share the Travel Photography Field Guide PDF with my friends?

You may keep one copy of the Field Guide PDF for your own personal use, and another copy as backup. Please do not distribute the PDF to your friends or anyone else.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are negotiated on a case by case basis. Generally they are not offered unless there has been a technical problem that cannot be resolved. If you wish to discuss a refund, please email hello@skiptownonline.com.
